How do I join WRC?

Go to our main WRC page on Facebook and click the JOIN.  Submit your drivers license number, social security number and a major credit card and ....

As long as you're a legit user in the DFW/Ellis county area (and not a bogus or spammer account) you'll be approved.  This page is where all the chatter happens.  

What does it cost to join WRC?

The cost is currently free to join WRC.  We are volunteer lead and organized and try to follow the mantra of "Pay It Forward!" with our training.  We were all beginners at some point and relied on the tips and suggestions of a more experienced runner or coach.  

We ask that if you join you step forward and volunteer your knowledge or time at some of our events.  A lot of our Couch to 5k graduates move on to training for a 10k, but still drop in to help the next class of Coach to 5k'ers.  They know what it feels like to struggle and work towards the goal of running a 5k.  

This is just one example of helping.  Others find their niche in bringing water or popsicles or volunteering their house for a cook-out.  Your welcome to utilize your gifts or talents to help the group prosper. 

What training group should I start with?

Most people start with the Couch to 5k group.  This training takes the average non-runner from the beginning walking steps up to running a full 3.1 miles (or 5 kilometers) in 9 weeks.  Just 30-minute a day, 3 days a week.

Some people choose to repeat the Coach to 5k training to get stronger, while others move on to the 5k-to-10k program.  

Where and when does everyone run?

We have formal training groups on Sun/Tues/Thurs evenings.  The different groups are training to complete a 5k, 10k or a half marathon.  The group training information can be found on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WRCC25k 

We also have weekly long-runs on Saturday and/or Sunday for those who are training for longer distance events.  These LSD (Long Slow Distance) trainings run range, usually, from 6 to 18+ miles. How do I get one of those cool WRC shirts?

Several times throughout the year we get shirts printed with our WRC logo.  Since everyone has a difference preference for color or style, we ask that members purchase their own dry-fit or sport tech shirt.  We then collect the shirts and take them to a local print shop.  The cost for the custom logo printed on front and back is $10/shirt.  Watch here or on the Main WRC page for next order details. 

Do you have social events?

Yes - besides the social training runs, we have several social events and/or Happy Hours throughout the year.  Watch the calendar of upcoming events, the main page or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/wrclub . 

Examples are:  Family picnics, happy hours, Christmas party, etc. 

Is it okay to bring my children?

Yes - as long as you are able to maintain their safety.  The Couch to 5k training group runs mostly on the Getzendaner Trail and not on public streets.  We've had kids as young as 5 - 6 train and successfully do the 5k training with their parents.  

Can my family participate?

Yes - the more the merrier!
